Changelog
Notable changes to Simplepush, newest first.
July 2026
The new Simplepush. A rebuilt app, backend, and toolchain. This release replaces the previous generation of Simplepush.
- Interactive tasks. Send a question along with your notification: free text, single or multiple choice, sliders, or Accept and Deny buttons. Answers arrive on your devices or back in your scripts.
- Replies. Respond to tasks from the app with text, photos, voice notes, and files.
- Send to your own devices. Send without a topic to reach only your devices.
- Topics. Keys from the previous app are now topics. The app migrates your existing keys to topics.
- Encryption, rebuilt. End-to-end encryption stays opt-in. When enabled, content is unreadable to us and to the push providers. Unfortunately encryption keys can not be migrated from the previous app and every user needs to setup encryption again.
- Organizations. Invite members, assign topics centrally, and manage everything from the command line. Includes organization-wide end-to-end encryption.
- New command line tool.
spsends notifications and tasks, collects answers, and streams events, built for scripting and automation. - New Python and TypeScript libraries. Redesigned APIs for sending, receiving, and collecting replies.
- Markdown formatting. Task content can opt in to Markdown rendering.
- File attachments. Photos, voice notes, and files with per-account storage pools.
